Registered Veterinary Technician/Nurse (RVT)

Individuals in this position will have completed a 2-year associate’s degree in an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program, passed the VTNE and NCVMB exams as well as have a current license (or are eligible to sit for the NCVMB exam), and be in good standing with the NCVMB.

  •  The minimum required skills of this professional are: 
  • Can adequate obtain a TPR and properly Triage patients 
  • Safely and effectively restrain patients
  • Placement of IVC and calculation of injectable and oral medications as prescribed and ordered by DVM
  • Calculation of basic Fluid rates and can program IV fluid pumps. 
  • Can monitor routine anesthesia on healthy patients undergoing elective procedures with minimal supervision 
  • Can induce and intubate a patient 
  • Possesses knowledge of standard vaccination protocols, disease processes and zoonotic and biohazard safety. 
  • Know the basics of CPR and be willing to advance this knowledge with continuing education provided by the hospital
  • Additional desirable skills include (which may vary depending on experience):
    • Independently monitor anesthesia on disease-compromised patients and urgent care surgeries if needed. 
    • Has knowledge of various pre-med protocols and can calculate and administer pre-meds for anesthesia with doctor supervision
    • Trained in CPR protocols and comfortable taking on a role in a CPR situation, be at least BLS Recover CPR certified  
    • Be proficient in carrying out advanced hospitalization orders for patients such as Blood transfusions, anti-venom treatment, DKA protocol, CRI’s,  etc. 
    • Troubleshoot equipment, be comfortable using syringe pumps, CRI pumps, etc. 
    • Be a leader to the staff when on the clock and always be willing to share knowledge and train fellow nursing staff. 
    • Be Recover ALS CPR certified

Associate Veterinarian

Associate Veterinarian Position

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of North Carolina
  • Current DEA License
  • 1 yr experience in small animal medicine

Other Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of basic veterinary preventive medicine and current recommendations for wellness care 
  • Ability to efficiently assess sick cases and recommend appropriate diagnostics and treatment
  • Competent with basic and routine surgical procedures such as spays, neuters, gastropexies and mass removals
  • Ideally, is also comfortable with advanced soft tissue surgeries such as intestinal, bladder and more complex mass removals. However, we are happy to provide surgical mentorship to a motivated and enthusiastic candidate
  • Dental extraction and oral surgery experience is preferred. We will provide mentorship to the right candidate if needed.
  • Is a team player and supportive and respectful to all staff
  • An effective communicator with the ability to diffuse conflict and maintain calm under pressure
  • Has enthusiasm and a positive attitude and is excited to practice high quality medicine, seeks answers and knowledge with difficult cases and is always wanting to expand their skill set and knowledge base

Hours and Scheduling

  • We are currently closed weekends and holidays, however this candidate would be expected to work until 8pm at least 1 week night.
  • We can be very flexible with our scheduling and can offer a 3 or 4 day work week
  • We are looking for a candidate who will work a minimum of 30hrs per week, however, we never ask employees to work over 40hrs (most full time employees average 32-36hrs) and we protect lunch breaks and time away from work to encourage a healthy work life balance
